All sewer services in Denver

Seven services cover nearly every sewer failure that turns up under a house, a storefront or a plant in Denver. This page lists each one, says what it does and which Denver problem it is the answer to, so a property owner can tell from the symptom which page to read next.

Sewer camera inspections

A self-leveling camera is pushed from the cleanout to the main while a locator on the surface tracks its position and depth. The recording identifies the pipe material by section, marks each root mass, crack, offset and belly by footage, and shows whether the line can be lined or must be replaced. In Denver the inspection has a second life as the sewer scope that buyers order before closing on an older house. Every other service on this list starts here, because none of them can be priced or chosen without the video.

Hydro jetting

A jetter sends water through a nozzle at pressures that cut roots, strip grease and flush grit, sand and scale out of the line to the main. It is the maintenance service for restaurant lines along Colfax and the preparation step before any liner goes in, since resin will not bond to a dirty wall. On its own it buys time; combined with a camera it tells the owner how much time. It is not a repair, and a line that needs jetting every few months has a structural problem that one of the services below will fix.

Trenchless sewer repair

This is the umbrella term for fixing a sewer line without trenching along it, and the page under that name explains how the installer chooses among lining, bursting and point repair for a given Denver lateral. The deciding factors are the pipe material, how much of its shape it has kept, whether there is a sag, and whether the line is big enough for the building. The pre-1950 clay under Capitol Hill, the Orangeburg under the post-war tracts and the cast iron under mid-century slabs each lean toward a different answer.

Sewer pipe lining

Cured-in-place lining rebuilds a cracked, root-bound or rusted pipe from inside by curing a resin-saturated tube against the old wall. The product is a continuous jointless pipe with a long design life, installed through the cleanout in a working day. It is the most common repair in the older Denver neighborhoods because clay joints and iron inverts are exactly the defects it addresses, and because it crosses the alley and the street without a permit for excavation. The independent reference on the method is the CIPP reference.

Sewer pipe bursting

When a pipe has collapsed, flattened or is simply too small, bursting replaces it. A conical head is pulled through the old line from a pit near the main, fracturing it outward into the soil, while a new high-density polyethylene pipe of the same or larger diameter follows behind. Two small pits replace a trench. In Denver it is the usual answer to badly ovaled Orangeburg and to upsizing a four-inch lateral for a building that has grown.

Sectional point repair

A short liner, a few feet long, cured over a single defect while the rest of the line is left alone. It suits a lone offset joint, a crack from a root, or a break at the splice between two pipe materials when the camera shows the remainder of the run is sound. It is cheaper than a full liner and far cheaper than digging to a joint that happens to sit under the alley.

Sewer pipe repair

The general repair page covers the situations the trenchless methods do not reach on their own: a sag that must be regraded, a failed tap at the main, a crushed section near the foundation, and the emergency backup that needs the line opened tonight before anything else is decided. It explains when a small excavation is the honest answer and how it is combined with lining so the dig stays small.

Who does the work in Denver

the verified installer covering Denver provides each of these services across the Denver area and is verified for cured-in-place installation under the standard published at the verified installer directory. In Denver County and the neighboring counties the same installer handles the permits for whichever city or sanitation district the address belongs to. Questions

Which service do I need if my basement drain backs up in Denver?+

Start with a camera inspection, usually paired with jetting to clear the immediate blockage. The recording shows whether the cause is roots at a clay joint, a flattened Orangeburg run, a rusted iron invert or a belly, and the service page for the matching repair follows from that. Ordering a repair without the video is guessing.

Are these services for houses only?+

No. The same lining, bursting, jetting and inspection methods are used on restaurant drains, hotel stacks, warehouse building drains and plant sewers across the Denver area. The commercial and industrial pages describe what changes at those scales: resin choice, bypass pumping, scheduling and the paperwork that comes with a pretreatment or grease permit.

Do all of these services need a city permit?+

Inspection and jetting are maintenance and need none. Lining, bursting, point repair and any excavation on the lateral are regulated work in Denver under the Sewer Use and Drainage Permit from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, plus a right-of-way permit when the alley, sidewalk or street is involved. The installer applies for both.

Can the lateral under the street be included in the repair?+

Yes, and it should be. In Denver the owner is responsible for the service line all the way to the main, pavement included, and a liner or bursting pull runs that full length from the house side without opening the street. Leaving the public stretch unrepaired leaves the owner holding the most expensive part of the problem.
